Walnut and Steel Hall Shelf

We just installed this hall shelf for a couple that just moved to Portland.

The shelf is made from a live edge oregon walnut plan and blackened steel.

The shelf brackets double as display cubbies.

The shelf cubbies are water-jet cut to mimic the shape of the live-edge shelf, and then formed to the final size.

New Holman Record Cabinet.

We recently completed this custom Holman cabinet for a Portland home.

This is a customized version of the Holman cabinet line— we love it so much we have to permanently add it to the collection.

The interior of the cabinet was built specifically to house these speakers, and can be modified for the speakers of your choice. The center bay holds the amplifier and equipment.

The wood spindles protect the speaker fabric from tears, kids, cats, and the like.

All of the doors utilize touch latch hardware for a clean appearance.

The upper section is sized to house a turntable— viva vinyl! The hardware is polished stainless.

PORTLAND ART MUSEUM RECEPTION DESK

We recently completed this reception desk for the lobby of the Portland Art Museum offices.

The body is made from 3/8" aluminum and powdercoated red— weight, 800 lbs!

The toekick lights up with LED Light strips.

The signage is acrylic backlit with LED lights. The aluminum was water-jet cut to allow the acrylic to extrude through the face.

We also made these red leather benches, fully modular.

Beds!

Here are a couple of custom beds that we made over the past few months. Similar, but very different.

This first bed was built for a client here in Portland. To make sure the proportions and overall vibe were what she wanted, we mocked the bed up out of stud-grade lumber and installed it so she could sleep within the canopy for a few months before construction began. Result—just right.

The mattress is european sized, so this may very well be the largest bed we could ever make.

This bed is rift-white oak, with a "pickled" white stain, upholstery is white felt.

Here is a detail of the foot-rail-- mitered wood and upholstery seam up perfectly. We also made sure that the wood grain was continuous through the mitered joint.

Detail of the Side table and drawer unit. The lamps are David Weeks Studio.

This next bed was made for a suite in the Waverley Building here in Portland. Interior design by Inside Design International— both the client, and designer (Kim Hagstette) were great to work with!

This bed is also rift-white oak, but we stained this a very dark, Van Dyke brown.

The "lacy" headboard is meant to provide privacy from the windows in the back, while not feeling too enclosed.

The perforated felt was fabricated by Moufelt, another fantastic firm in Portland pushing the limits of material. Our job was to seamlessly integrate it into the design, no easy task.

Coffee Table

New walnut, brass, and smoked glass coffee table designed and built by MADE (you may recognize the sofa from an earlier post...)

Materials are walnut, brass, and smoked glass.

View from the front.

The smoked glass enables the collection to be curated. A nice collection, we think!

The solid brass dividers create an organizational system for the clients mass collection of magazines.

Here is a detail of the dividers notched into the solid wood frame.

New Media Cabinetry by MADE

Here are photos of some cabinetry that MADE designed and built in Portland recently. Walnut cabinetry with brass accents and Carrera marble countertops.

The lower cabinets are all for album storage.

We even custom-made the pulls for this project. Yes, those are sliding dovetails in the solid brass pulls.

The upper unit is supposed by steel brackets buried in the wall.

The upper unit has custom lighting that is turned on by touching one of the brass partitions.

Here is a detail of the brass plates that we routed into the shelves to act as dividers.

The devil is in the details.....
